The World Meeting of Families 'Image of the Holy Family' comes to the parish of Dunhill & Fenor on week beginning Monday 2nd October next.
Held internationally every three years, the World Meeting of Families will take place in Dublin in August of next year. Pope Francis personally chose Ireland and he hopes to attend. It gives an opportunity to bring together families from across the world to celebrate, pray and reflect upon the importance of marriage and the family as the cornerstone of our lives, of society and of the Church.
To help prepare for this significant event, our diocese has commissioned a copy of the Holy Family Icon, which was written by the Redemptoristine Sisters in Drumcondra, Dublin in honour of the World Meeting of Families, to travel throughout the diocese during the year. This is part of our local preparation, leading up to the central celebration in Dublin next August. The image of the Holy Family is blessed by the Bishop and will be with us in Dunhill & Fenor from Monday October 2nd to Sunday October 8th. It is accompanied by a bell, which symbolises the universal call to prayer for Christians. To celebrate its presence among us, there will be a number of events taking place in our parish during that week.
Monday evening, Oct. 2nd, there will be a rosary to mark the arrival of the Holy Family picture in Dunhill church at 7.30 p.m.
Tuesday Oct. 3rd, there will be Mass in Fenor church at 11.15 a.m. with Fenor school in attendance.
Wednesday in Dunhill and Friday in Fenor, Oct. 4th & 6th, the image will be present for the weekly holy hour at 11 am in each church.
Thursday Oct. 5th, there will be Mass in Dunhill church at 11.30 a.m. with Dunhill school in attendance.
Saturday and Sunday Oct. 7th & 8th the icon and bell will be on display at both weekend Masses.
Please keep these events in your prayers, that through the image of the Holy Family, each family in our parish may receive many graces and blessings. ...
