Parish Pilgrimages
The parish pastoral council, at its meeting of April 2010, decided to organise an annual parish pilgrimage. Various destinations were considered and the consensus was that somewhere local would be the best place to start with. More adventurous (and more expensive) trips could be arranged for future years if the demand were to materialise. The pilgrimages would be partly educational, partly for fun, partly social events and, of course, serious religious occasions.
The destination chosen for the 2010 pilgrimage was Mount Melleray Abbey in County Waterford. For 2011 the council decided on Rome, Italy. In 2013, the parish pilgrimage was to Rome, Assisi, Loreto, Padua, and Venice.
It is our intention to create an album of photos for each pilgrimage but this depends on our being supplied with photographs by the pilgrims themselves. All of the Parish Photo Albums are available under “Media” in the main menu bar near the top of each page.
As you can see from this photo of the Mount Melleray pilgrims, pilgrimages are happy events with happy people and wonderful weather.
